About Me:

Hi there! My name is Cassandra Geisel (she/her).

I’m a passionate advocate for mental health and the transformative power of psychotherapy. I see therapy as not just a means for personal growth, but a catalyst for broader societal change. It’s an honour to walk alongside my clients on their journeys of self-discovery, helping them cultivate deeper relationships, self-awareness, and a sense of belonging in the world.

My path to becoming a psychotherapist is shaped by a unique blend of experiences. With a degree in Criminology, I explored the complexities of serial homicide, developmental psychology, and intersectionality. My work on Dr. Sasha Reid’s ‘Missing and Murdered’ database profoundly influenced me, showing how societal values shape both life and death. This ignited my fascination with the themes of mortality and grief, leading me to manage a funeral home, where I learned firsthand the beauty of holding space for people in their most vulnerable moments.

These experiences ultimately guided me toward a career in psychotherapy. In my training as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I’ve worked in bereavement support, trauma-focused charities, and low-cost therapy centers, specialising in trauma, loss, life transitions, and shame. My approach is anti-oppressive, culturally informed, and LGBTQIA+ affirming, with a deep focus on understanding each client's unique context.

Beyond individual therapy, I’m deeply committed to community mental health. I’ve worked in grassroots suicide prevention and currently serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees for The New Normal, a charity providing free peer support for those navigating bereavement. My work in one-on-one therapy and community mental health are deeply intertwined, each enriching my perspective and approach.

Outside of therapy, you’ll find me immersed in music, attending concerts, exploring nature (especially near water), writing, or lost in a good book.

Now that you know a bit about my story, I’d love to explore yours. Understanding your own narrative can be a powerful way to navigate life’s complexities and unlock deeper self-awareness.
